KDIV wants to provide young high school men and women a resource to speak to the community about challenges and opportunities they face as youth.

Program Overview:

  1. Program Length – AMPLIFIED will be a 6 week program.

  2. Show Length – AMPLIFIED will be 1 ½ hours

  3. Total Participants per session – 15 youth (boys and girls)

AMPLIFIED operates weekly and consists of 3 - 5 youth members from the Northwest Arkansas community. The youth will be supervised by a KDIV 98.7 FM adult staff member. The program will be an hour to an hour and a half in length and be managed by the youth. Each of the participants will have a role in managing the weekly shows.

Participant Requirements:

  • Participants are required to make at least 4 of the 6 weeks of event to be considered.

  • Participants are required to volunteer at 2 KDIV 98.7 FM community events

Participant Time Commitments:

  • Participants must be able to attend weekly show preparation meetings (one day per week for 1.5 to 2 hours).

  • Participants must be able to commit to being present for actual shows on Mondays at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (applies to the 5 members who will run the show).

Development Outcomes:

  • The youth will leave with Radio and Broadcast knowledge and experience.

  • Each participant will gain skills related to being a radio personality and/or disc jockey.

  • The participants will learn to interact and engage with the community (KDIV 98.7 FM listeners).

  • Participants will gain experience with improvisation, creative program planning, etc.

End of Program Highlight:

  • The Amplified Youth Team will plan an end of program event open to all High School students in the area (skating, bowling, etc.). This will be an opportunity to bring the youth together and celebrate a successful program while also building awareness.
